Large Scale Energy Storage has long been considered the holy grail of the electrical power industry, both on grid and off grid. By being able to store energy, stresses on the power grid can be alleviated, cost of electricity can be reduced, power availability can be improved and greenhouse gases can be reduced. In its simplest form, we store energy when it isn’t needed or when it’s expensive, and we discharge it when we do need it or when the price for electricity is high.
